Lab Gruppen founders Kenneth and Dan built handmade, durable consoles from repurposed electronics, leading to a stadium debut with Eartha Kitt.
Lab Gruppen launched with a 2,000 SEK investment, creating the SS 300 and the AXE-AMP, a favorite of blues legend Johnny Winter.
The success of the SS 1000 made Lab Gruppen Sweden’s leading amp brand and a global touring standard, while the SS 1400 solidified its status as a full-line power partner.
Lab Gruppen introduced the Intercooler heatsink and the R.SMPS breakthrough, using the SS 1300 to set a new global standard for power density.
Lab Gruppen developed the patented Class TD topology, combining Class B audio quality with Class D efficiency, first featured in the LAB 2000. This era also introduced the DSP 24 for high-precision filtering and VIEW, the brand's first Windows-based control software.
The LAB 4000 evolved Class TD into the high-output fP Series, leading to a next-gen four-channel platform that doubled power again with integrated networking and simplified architecture.
Acquired by TC Group in 2002 alongside Tannoy and TC Electronic, Lab Gruppen expanded and moved to its current headquarters in Kungsbacka, Sweden.
Launched in 2005, the C Series was a flexible 4-channel platform for fixed installations, offering 24/7 reliability and networked monitoring that set a new global standard for power density.
The FP+ Series delivered record touring power, while the C...X models optimized large installations. This peaked with the PLM Series, the first "Powered Loudspeaker Management" system integrating Dolby Lake processing.
